How to request deletion

Fill in the form below and we will process your request within 30 days. You will receive a confirmation email when deletion is complete. If you have trouble with the form, email us directly at locate@locatecommunity.com with the subject Account Deletion Request.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pause my account instead?
Yes — you can deactivate your account temporarily from Settings inside the app without deleting your data.

What about my map and trail data?
Trail data is stored only on your device and is never sent to our servers. To remove it, delete the app from your device.

How long does deletion take?
We process all requests within 30 days. Cached copies on content delivery networks may persist for up to 90 days before expiring.

Can I create a new account after deleting?
Yes, using the same or a different email address.

Privacy Policy

2. Age Requirements

By creating an account you confirm you meet the minimum age for your country. We collect your date of birth and country at registration and enforce the minimum age automatically.

4. Background Location

Used solely for trail recording when screen is off. A persistent notification is shown while active. You can decline or revoke at any time in device Settings → Apps → Locate → Permissions.

5. Advertisements

Locate displays paid advertisements in the social feed, clearly labelled "Sponsored." We use only your profile country for targeting — no behavioural profiling, no third-party ad networks, no tracking pixels. Ads are not shown in the map and navigation section.

You can edit your profile, delete posts, withdraw location permission, and request a copy of your data at any time. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, use our Account Deletion Request page. For other data requests email locate@locatecommunity.com — we respond within 30 days.

8. Content Standards and Moderation

All content posted to Locate — including photos, videos, stories, and comments — is subject to our Community Guidelines set out in the Terms of Use. We do not permit the public sharing of graphic violence in any form outside of a clearly identified, genuine newsworthy context. Content that violates our guidelines is removed and may result in account suspension. Reported content data (report reason, content type, outcome) is retained for safety and audit purposes.

The map and navigation features contain no advertisements and store all data on device only. Social features are available to users meeting the minimum age. Parents who believe a child has created an account should email locate@locatecommunity.com immediately.

Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using Locate you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. These terms form a legal agreement between you and Balo Services.

2. Age Requirements

You must provide your real date of birth during registration. Providing a false date of birth is a violation of these terms and will result in immediate account deletion.

3. Your Account

• Provide accurate information including your real date of birth and country
• Keep your password confidential — do not share your login
• You are responsible for all activity under your account
• You may only create one account — creating multiple accounts to evade a suspension is prohibited

4. Community Guidelines

Locate is designed to be safe and welcoming for users of all ages.

You may post:

• Photos, videos, and stories from your travels and explorations
• Tips, recommendations, and information about destinations
• Questions and discussions about travel and relocation
• Content that is kind, honest, and respectful

Video content

Videos shared on Locate must comply with all of the rules above. We expressly prohibit videos depicting real-world graphic violence — including footage of physical assaults, serious injury, torture, or death — unless the content forms part of a clearly identified newsworthy report from a recognised news organisation and is shared in that context. Uploading, sharing, or linking to such videos outside of a genuine newsworthy context will result in immediate content removal and may result in account suspension or permanent ban.

5. Enforcement — Warnings and Bans

1. Strike 1 — Warning issued. Content removed. Email notification sent.
2. Strike 2 — Second warning. Content removed. Account flagged for review.
3. Strike 3 — Account permanently suspended. Email blocked from re-registration.

For severe violations — including child safety violations and threats of violence — we reserve the right to permanently ban an account immediately without prior warning.

To appeal a moderation decision email locate@locatecommunity.com with subject "Account Appeal" — we respond within 14 days.

6. Advertisements

Locate displays paid advertisements in the social feed clearly labelled "Sponsored." Advertisers agree to our Advertiser Terms. We reserve the right to reject or remove any advertisement that violates our guidelines.

Locate is an aid to exploration — always use your own judgement when navigating, particularly in remote areas. Do not rely solely on Locate for safety-critical navigation.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
